Michael has an undying passion for building community. He began his career in the nonprofit sector in June 2017 as an internship services coordinator for Year Up Philadelphia. While in Philadelphia, Michael also held the role of alumni engagement steward, supporting hundreds of Year Up alumni and advising the local alumni board. Michael was promoted to program manager of the Year Up Puget Sound site in Seattle in February 2019. Michael dedicated his time in Seattle to creating and uplifting safe spaces for representatives of marginalized communities.
Prior to joining the Grads of Life team, Michael was a diversity, equity and inclusion lead for the Seattle market and, while serving in this role, he founded the national staff resource group for Black, African American and Pan African staff. Michael also served as a fellow on the Year Up change team, which is responsible for building antiracist infrastructure for Year Up and Grads of Life.
Michael holds a B.A. in organizational leadership from Pierce College.
