Eckerd's Career Connections Program serves youth aged 16-24 who are out of school and out of work. The primary goals the program are to provide occupational skills training that leads to nationally recognized credentials; provide career exploration and work readiness activities; help participants prepare to take high school equivalency credential exams; provide supportive services, guidance and counseling; place students in employment and/or post-secondary education or training; and provide a year of follow up services.
Occupational skills training is offered in Microsoft Office applications and Customer Service which culminates in participants attaining the National Retail Federation’s Certification in Customer Service and/or one or more Microsoft Office Specialist Certifications. Participants also receive a variety of life skills training and personal/leadership development activities; workshops on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, healthy living, and other topics that are relevant to this population. Program participants also get the opportunity to explore the world of work during the program with a paid work experience.
