The Challenge

Salesforce.com has always had community ties woven into its fiber. Through its celebrated 1/1/1 integrated philanthropy model, the company seeks out organizations that can leverage its people, technology and resources to improve communities. It also operates in a challenging market (San Francisco) for employers in search of skilled IT professionals. As the company increasingly found recruiting and retention to be consistent hurdles in its growth, Salesforce.com sought out ways to improve its double bottom line. 

The Solution

In 2008, Salesforce.com became a founding partner for Year Up in the Bay Area. Year Up connects companies that need talent with young adults who need opportunities. This partnership allowed Salesforce.com to find what it needed: a stronger pipeline of educated and skilled employees. As a result, Salesforce.com has been recognized for its investment in the community and received the San Francisco Business Times Community Commitment Award in 2012.
