"We’ve set it up so they can generate value as quickly as possible for the organization. If it’s strictly a cost center, it’s not going to be something really productive for the company. These young people are very computer-literate and provide value in ways you would not expect."
Brad Morehead, CEO, LiveWatch Security

The Challenge

When LiveWatch’s revenue increased 56% between 2009 and 2012, it realized it could not find the skilled talent it needed to keep up with demand.

The Solution

To attract and motivate young people to work and stay in Kansas, LiveWatch’s tech team created a game-based training system that records trainees’ progress as they successfully complete modules for specific jobs in the company.

The Outcome

  1. 93% retention rate after one year
  2. 64% of workforce are youth (up from 28% in 2010)
  3. Recognized as one of best employers in community providing new skills, a living wage and a career trajectory for youth in a small rural town with few employment options
